The Twelve Realms

The realms are twelve in number and their names are as follows:
1.   Te Toi-o-ngaa-rangi.
2.   Tiritiri-o-matangi
3.   Rangi-naonao-ariki
4.   Rangi-te-wanawana
5.   Rangi-nui-ka-tika
6.   Rangi-mata-ura
7.   Tauru-rangi
8.   Rangi-mata-wai
9.   Rangi-maire-kura
10. Rangi-parauri
11. Rangi-tamaku
12. Rangi-nui-a-tamaku-rangi
The first is the summit of a spiritual ascendancy. Number twelve is that most closest to humanity.






The Uppermost Heaven

Te Toi-o-ngaa-rangi, the uppermost or first heaven. The realm at the core of a spiritual identity. The realm solely for Iộ Taketake, the foundation; Iộ Maatua-kore, the self-created; Iộ Te Waiora, the fountain of life. Ascending this realm denoting union with the Creator.  Te Toi-o-ngaa-rangi, the celestial realm at the zenith of Te Pộ.

The Spiritual Realms

As awareness became reality Rangi-tu-haha, the whole of the realms, materialized into the ether. The whole of the realms was manifest. The whole of the physical from the whole of the non-physical. The whole of the tangible from the whole of the intangible. The whole of the natural from the whole of the supernatural.  

The celestial enmeshing the terrestrial. As further branches fruited - the whole of the realms became twelve. The foundations towards an ultimate quest. Each realm replete with its own lores and law – towards an interior striving. The celestial realms stages in a spiritual excursion. The journey above continued from immediately below – although with exceptions.

A Singular Word

Te Whe, a reverberation invoked at the absolute moment of creation. A singular solitary directive encircling existence entirely. Te Whe, the seed word whose offshoots are embedded in Te Waananga, knowledge and wisdom. Te Whe disseminated by Te Whakaaro - propagation by invocation. Invocation by karakia sourced from Io-mata-puutahi, Io of the one command.

The Life Principle

The life principle has its own sequence of events. A taproot into secondaries. From half-roots into shoots. An unfolding and intuitive evolvement towards an increasing acuity. A complexity naturally arising as a vine intricately conceived. An organic expansion bearing bold and bodacious fruit. A fruit juicy ripe with potential and possibility – tehei mauri ộra!

The sneeze of life that distinguishes the hau from the hum. Breathing into being a further contrast – the yes from the no; the male from the female; the black from the white. All, subject to a variety of hues and the many shades found as the cracks. The spirited corporeal colours of consciousness emerging.

Te Hirihi, the ‘potentiality’ directly from Iộ. Te Hirihi energising Te Mahara, subconsciousness; Te Hinengaro, consciousness. The realm of possibility commences. Possibility to be this or that. Possibility to do this or that. Possibility to include this and that. Possibility bounded by extremes – narrowing to a focussed point of view. Instructions in Te Whe.

The World of Light

The seeking, the pursuit and groping towards. The stretching and elongation.  Enlargement. Pure elemental potency now physically manifest. Creation itself a duality – the tapu and the noa. In a microcosm, creation bifurcated into the universe. The physical from the non-physical; the tangible from the intangible; the natural from the supernatural;  dark issuing forth light.

Te Aộ Maarama, and The World of Light – two parts to a greater sum. One belongs to the realm of the ethereal and the other to the physical world of science and reason. An inevitable consequence of space and time was for intelligence and its consequences to evolve. The realisation of the life principle.

Absolute Blackness

From Te Kộrekore into Te Pộ Nui, the absolute blackness. The black of Atua elemental to creation. Te Pộ Nui, the absolute black overflowing with the precursors to universal existence. The great darkness, the long darkness, the lowliest, and deep darkness. The intense darkness – of both spirit and form. The darkness of restless turning.

The turning was a yearning - to move darkness into light. A spontaneous and generative spark from the creator elemental to initiation. The catalytic hand of creator to bestow form to the formless, mass to the massless, and light to the dark. From the darkness into the world of light - Te Aộ Maarama.

Absolute Nothingness

Te Kộrekore is the absolute nothingness. The absolute in white. Before the singularity and before the advent of reason. In the intangible realm - a void bereft only of emptiness. Clearly, there is no such thing as a spiritually blank space, vacuum, or void.  Everything  is encapsulated by Iộ - including  the nothingness completely.

Te Kộrekore is potentiality without form or mass - incomprehensible to the rational mind and its many senses. Before the phenomenological world of existence and substance. The nothingness that cannot be wrapped up, or bound, or fastened, or constrained. Te Kộrekore, the white flowing from the red. Potentialities and possibilities into the black.

Creation

Four metaphysical epochs above and four evolutionary eons below:

Te Kộrekore - The Nothingness 
Te Pộ Nui - The Darkness 
Te Aộ Maarama - The World of Light.
Te Aộ Pộ - The World of Night.

Creator

Iộ, without beginning or end: a father; a mother; a face; a counterface. Iộ of the slumbering countenance. Calmness and tranquility itself. Iộ, the unchanging and unadulterated – in whom there is no confusion or inconsistency. Iộ of the gloriously blinding countenance – seen as a flash of light only. Iộ, the hidden - omnipresent unseen.

Iộ, the precursộr to all of creation. Io, of the good, the bad, and every shade inbetween. Iộ, incomprehensible to the sciences but readily available to the primary senses. Iộ, the nothingness, the darkness, and the light. In the spiritual space Te Pộ - the relationship creation has with creator is graphically expressed thus:

Introduction

Te Pộ is an interior realm that celebrates and venerates Iộ as Creator. Of all things tangible and intangible; physical and non-physical; natural and supernatural. Iộ, the nothingness, the darkness, and the light. For the spiritually astute Te Pộ will be familiar and well turned earth. For others Te Pộ will be like coal.

The following observations are an exploration of a spiritual cosmos - a deep space reflected as a luminous night. An all embracing darkness that is creation inclusive of the light. By the luminosity of Atua – Te Pộ is further elucidated. A magnificent view of universe vivid with diverse compositions, and countless colours and hues.

Painted is a broad depiction only. The palette of Atua is the base shade solely - the red, white, and black. In concert, Te Pộ is a splendiferous world coloured richly by a lexicon of hues to the details and to the shadows. The trichromatic tones - bedazzled by spirited shades of corporeal colour.

In the colours that paint Te Pộ, disregard the murkiness and dullness at the core of human dark matter. The negative blackness that is a human contrivance. Like the darkness of night the spiritual space Te Pộ is radiant with potential brightly. No catastrophic events or downward spirals exist. Potentiality purely welded to Possibility.

Te Pộ is a spiritual manifestation appropriate to a contemporary age and rendition. Building on the traditions and conventions expressing Te Ao Maaori – The Maaori Worldview - but not a reproduction thereof. Te Pộ traverses alternate terrains – a spiritual scape whose shadows are intensely pronounced and richly conceived in untainted clays, metals and gems.

Te Pộ altogether shuns the mass rationality of the western tradition - that condemns the massless to oblivion. The night thus an apt description – an embracing darkness dappled by many spectrums of light. Embracing also an idealised notion of a spiritual identity - where we ought to be in the age of post modernity.

Ultimately, Te Pộ is a narration of relationships – a binding sequence of events. A whakapapa inked lightly in dark matter. To bind a people, to a particular place, and to a higher purpose. Interpreted herein as Te Pộ - the place; Taangata Wairua - the people; and Iộ Maatua Kộre – the much higher purpose.
